Race Packet Pickup & Expo Information

The Running Wild Sports & Fitness Expo is the official race headquarters for the Quad-City Times Bix 7.

Packet pickup, late registration and Expo are located in the RiverCenter South Hall at 136 East Third Street, Davenport.

Packet pickup and late registration hours are: Thursday, July 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be limited packet pick-up race morning from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. No in-person race registration available on Saturday morning.

Expo hours are: Thursday, July 25 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

 

Race Number

Your numbered bib Is unique to you, must be securely pinned to the front of your running clothes (top or shorts) and must be visible at all times. Anyone running without an official bib will be removed from the course and not be recorded as a finisher. Please check printed information on bib to assure that all your personal information is correct. Mark any medical information (diabetes, medication, etc.) on the back of your bib.

You must wear your assigned B-tag timing chip or you will not be timed. Attach the B-tag per the instructions (see link). Timing and scoring are determined by the B-tag. Upon crossing the finish line you need NOT remove your D-tag; it is disposable and can be discarded in a trash receptacle.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT trade bib numbers or B-tags with anyone.

Start Line

Quad-City Times Bix 7 & Prairie Farms Quick Bix start at the intersection of Brady & 4th Street.

The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. sharp for the Quick Bix and Bix 7 participants in place by 7:45 a.m. Corral entry points are listed here. Enter the starting area only from River Drive, 2nd St. or 3rd St.

The Course

The Quad-City Times Bix 7 race starts at the intersection of Brady & 4th streets, goes up Brady Street Hill, turns right onto Bix (Kirkwood) Blvd, turns up Jersey Ridge Rd., turn right onto Middle Rd., and turn right onto McClellan Blvd., to a turnaround at River Drive. The course follows back the same way, turns left onto 3rd street to the finish line. Splits will be given at all mile markers. There will be a timing mat at the “halfway” point on the course to record a mid-way split. Water will be available on the course. Run on the right side of the street, with traffic.

The Prairie Farms Quick Bix starts on Brady St (with Bix 7 runners), turns right on 15th St., turns right onto Perry St., turns left onto 4th St. to the finish line.

This is a challenging race course. If at any time you feel any danger signals of hypothermia (dizziness, dry skin, and cessation of sweating, nausea, cramps, goose bumps or incoherent thought or speech), flag for medical assistance and get into the shade.

How steep is Brady Street Hill?

Finish Line

Unofficial times will be displayed as you cross the finish line. Complete results with your official chip time will appear Sunday in the Quad-City Times. Because of the large number of runners, we must keep participants moving rapidly through the finishing area. Please follow these instructions:

  • Do not stop at the finish line.
  • Proceed through the finishing area.
  • Congratulations! Now just follow the path to the Quad-City Times Bix 7 Walmart’s Post-Race Party.

Age Group Awards

Age group awards will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 am at R. Richard Bittner YMCA, located close to the finish line at 630 E. 4th Street, Davenport.

In addition, we will announce the winners of the Quad-City Times Beat the Elite Runner, Premier Buick GMC Dealers’ High School Challenge, Caldwell & Newell Awards and the RRCA Champion medals.

Is there an age restriction to run?
There are no age restrictions on the Bix. Categories are: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 & over.
What is the race route?

How steep is Brady Street Hill?

Can I be in the race if I am in a wheelchair?

Yes, wheelchairs are allowed in the race. Other wheeled devices, such as strollers and bicycles, are not.

Can I bring my child with me in the race?
For the safety of the runners, strollers are not allowed. Children strapped to an adult or carried are permitted. As a reminder, the temperature on the day of the race may be very high. Be safe.
Are pets allowed?
As much as we love them, pets are not allowed.
How do I participate in the costume contest?
101.3 Kiss FM will hold the costume contest in the Quad-City Times parking lot after the race.
How is the race timed?

We use a disposable timing chip called a B-tag. These chips are located on the race bib. These chips do not need to be collected after the race.

I’ve registered. Now what?
  • If you ordered a training T-shirt, it will ship as soon as it is available.
  • The Running Wild Sports and Fitness Expo is the official race headquarters for the Quad-City Times Bix 7. The expo is located in the RiverCenter South Hall at 136 East Third Street, Davenport.
  • Packet pick-up, late registration and expo hours are: Thursday, July 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, July 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be limited packet pick-up the morning of the race from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. No late registration available on Saturday morning.

What’s the Bix at 6?

The Iowa American Water Bix at 6 is a set of 4 training runs available to registered Bix participants. Runs start at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, June 20, June 27 & July 11. You must be registered for the Bix 7 or Quick Bix to participate. Runners who register at the Bix at 6 will receive a free Bix at 6 T-shirt. The start line is at the corner of 4th and LeClaire Streets. Parking is in the Quad-City Times parking lot.

What’s the Brady Street Sprints and how can I enter?

The race is exactly a quarter mile climb, steeply ascending Brady Street hill. Ten races highlight the evening. Two men’s and women’s open races (29 & under and 39 & under for each), two Masters’ races (40 & over, men’s and women’s), High School relays (boys’ & girls’) and Bix 7 Sponsors Race (Bix sponsors only). The finals will be televised on KWQC with cash prizes for top finishers. Time trials take place during the first 3 Bix at 6 training runs – 7:00 p.m. at 5th and Pershing Street. The top 3 finishers each night will make it into the final round, which will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25.

Where do I park?

There are three downtown parking ramps, as well as street side parking and the Modern Woodmen Park parking lot (which requires a bit of a walk). Make sure you’re there early enough to get in place before the race starts.

How do I return my chip?

You don’t need to return your chip! With the B-Tag disposable timing chips, you won’t need to stop and remove the chip after the race or pay for a lost chip.

Driving and Parking

The location of the finish line is the same as last year, 3rd St. near Iowa St. Please study the map carefully and note the detours. All lots which charge a fee will also be open on a first-come, first-serve basis, so arrive early.

What to Do the Day of the Race

Many thousands of entrants and spectators will converge on the downtown area, so allow plenty of extra time for parking and plan to arrive at the starting area no later than 7:45 for Quick Bix and  for Bix 7.

Enter the lineup early. It may take 10 minutes or longer to find your spot. All runners should be in place and ready to start by 7:45 a.m.

It is vitally important for entrants to be fully hydrated before starting this race. Water will be available at all line-up areas. Take advantage of it!

You can park in all 3 city parking ramps for $2 starting at 5pm on Friday, all day Saturday or all day Sunday. The locations are;

  • River Center ramp – Enter East of Brady on 2nd & 3rd.
  • 101 Main Street ramp – Located North of River Drive.
  • 202 Harrison Street ramp – Enter on Harrison and on Ripley between 2nd & 3rd.

Spectators may enter on 5th St. using both the East & West sidewalks on Brady St. ONLY to the North sides of 4th St. NO spectators will be allowed on Brady St. or south of 4th St. until after all participants have cleared the Start Line.

Because Brady, 3rd St. and 4th St. will be blocked off, runners should warm up along 2nd St. both to the east and west of Brady St. Then proceed to your color coded area for lineup. See map for directions to your color coded area.

Color Coded Lineup Areas! Brady St. from the starting line back to River Drive will be flagged off for the lineup. Only those wearing an entrants’ number will be allowed within that area. NO ONE except seeded runners will be allowed to enter the lineup from the front at 4th & Brady. All other runners must enter from their own color coded area. How the clock works

It will take some time after the starting gun is fired for many to reach the starting line. Your official B-tag (net) time will appear in the Quad-City Times the morning after the race. 

NOTE: Quick Bix! A clock will be at the start and finish lines. Official B-tag (net) timing will take place.
